The Problem

A problem of astounding proportion plagues children in the country of China.  Overburdened, under-funded and under-staffed orphanages struggle to meet the demands created by the abandonment of tens of thousands of Chinese infants annually.  Countless numbers of baby girls, along with boys that have physical disabilities, are abandoned annually.  The outcome is a generation of institutionalized children who, for the most part, are void of family, education, and medical attention.    


The Cause

As a drastic measure to curb the country's overpopulation, China instituted the One Child Policy in 1979.  This governmental policy mandated families to one child, with an exception of a second child for those families dwelling in rural areas.  For over 30 years now,  the One Child Policy has had a  negative impact on a generation of children.  This policy and its consequences continue in the country of China today. 


The Need

International adoption from China has existed only since the early 1990's.  As awareness of the situation in China has spread, the number of orphans being adopted by families in the United States has increased.  Unfortunately, tens of thousands of children wait for someone to exhibit the love, care and attention they are  lacking.  Shortages of caregivers as well as insufficient medical, developmental and educational provisions add to a life already void of family.  The stigma placed on these children is carried into their adult life, resulting in adjustment problems once they are forced to leave the orphanage.  

Hope's Heart Orphan Foundation is dedicated to bringing hope to orphans living in these conditions.  Grants, awards and funding will enable Hope's Heart to say 'yes' to the children who depend on our help.  Through collaborating efforts of Hope's Heart with existing aid programs, we are consistently being made aware of specific children and specific needs.  It is our desire to do all we can to 'Serve Orphans with a Passion to Enrich Their Lives.'  Every dollar contributed to Hope's Heart and every grant released translates into a gift of love, life, and hope.
