December UPDATE- The news on Li was better than we ever expected. After a recent doctor's evaluation, it was suggested that Li be introduced to solid foods and that her esophagus might gradually expand and be able to handle solid foods without surgery. She was introduced to food, and after 10 days has been handling it well. She will continue with this course of action.
Two Cleft Lip Surgeries
October 2008- Can you even imagine what it would be like to be a newborn baby and not be able to drink your bottle? So many cleft affected babies today struggle to survive. What is the solution? One...special cleft bottles designed for their specific need; two... someone to feed them multiple times a day until they have gained enought weight to undergo surgery; and three... someone to fund their cleft lip surgery. On average, $1000-1300 will fund the surgery.
Most recently, funds were released to provide Lance and Leslie with their surgery and a hope to grow and survive. Very shortly, these two little ones will be given that hope.
November Update- Baby Leslie's surgery is over and she is on the road to recovery. Lance came down with a cold and was unable to receive his. As soon as he is back to health, he will be rescheduled.

Four more babies have been identified to receive surgery in just a few more weeks [October]. Watch for update and success stories to follow.

Cleft Surgery
January 2008- Oftentimes, overloading demands on the nannies result in inadequate time for individual bottle feedings to cleft affected babies. The outcome is lack of adequate nutrition in the first weeks of life. Surgical repair of the lip can increase the amount of nutrition received, in addition to minimizing the complications in speech, hearing, etc. So, we begin this new year with our first medical funding being released to a baby in need of cleft lip surgery. As soon as she is strong enough to undergo the surgery, she will receive this critical treatment.
