2006 Educational & Developmental Projects
Life On Her Own
December 2006- Entering into adult life brings an array of questions, challenges and fears. For a teen who knows nothing more than orphanage life, the intensity of each of these areas multiplies thousands of times over. That is why we are excited to sponsor a young lady as she prepares to leave the orphanage. This life preparation sponsorship will equip her with not only life skills, but the confidence to know she can succeed in the 'outside' world as she moves out on her own.
Opportunity For Schooling
December 2006- Being afforded an opportunity for formal learning is not a common occurance in a Chinese orphanage, especially if that child has a special need. Gene is being given the chance to reach new levels by participating in a classroom setting. Here he will develop new skills and discover a realm beyond his institutionalized living environment.
6 More School Sponsorships
September 2006- Hope's Heart has the incredible honor to offer six more children the gift of an education for one year. Each one has been given the chance to experience new opportunities of growth and development that they, as orphans, would not otherwise have. What a wonderful resource to stimulate their minds, bodies and social development. We know their time in school will help enrich their lives. Four of the six children will attend a pre-school/kindergarten program.

October UPDATE: Just a few weeks into the school year and already we are receiving wonderful reports of the excitement with which the children attend. It bring such delight to know the world of opportunities open to these children through their attendence at school. They are learning to adjust to the new environment where they spend a number of hours per day....so different than life in the orphanage. We are so very grateful to the supporters of Hope's Heart who are making a huge difference for these children. THANK YOU!
School Sponsorship
August 2006- New school supplies, clothes and shoes usher in the beginning of the school year for our children and those around us. We have just entered that season. Unfortunately, for school age orphans in China, the reality of attending school is often non existent. Thanks to education programs being implemented in some orphanages, and sponsorships for a number of these children, the joy of learning is becoming a reality. Hope's Heart is honored to sponsor Whitney for this school year. She is now experiencing the blessings that come from such an opportunity. Whitney is attending a boarding school during the week, and returns to the orphanage for the weekend. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Hope's Heart supporters who make the funding for Whitney's education possible.
November UPDATE- With much excitement, we have received the quarterly report on Whitney. She loves math and is working to improve her Chinese. Whitney said she would one day like to be a teacher. Participating in this educational program gives her the hope and belief that she has a future outside the orphanage.
Pre-School Supplies
April 2006- Learning opportunities at an early age are instrumental in the fostering of development and education. A donation of pre-school supplies will continue to open avenues for learning to little (pre-school) boys and girls. Under loving direction and teaching, these children are given hands on learning experiences. Thank you for making this gift possible. Supplies include an assortment of paper, glue, paint, puzzles, lace cards, balls, musical instruments, balls, puppets and more.

School Sponsorship Report Cards
February 2006 UPDATE- We all know that education, and all the life lessons gained at school, make for a brighter future for a child. Do you know what it's like as a parent to receive your child's report card? Or the anticipation of a student whose report card is being sent? Well, we at Hope's Heart are excited to share the reports we just received on two orphan students (Sangji and Lobsang) from western China who are able to attend school because of your support. (See pictures and original sponsorship June and August 2005). Here are the school reports. We trust you will share our pleasure. And we hope to have the opportunity to sponsor other children as well in the future.
Sangji is a child who loves to laugh and has much more to laugh about these days. She is really enjoying being able to go to school. She is doing well in all of her classes. Her teachers believe she will continue to be an excellent student because she is a very hard worker in everything she does. She enjoys being clean and having new, clean clothes and shoes to wear to school. Because they have so little, these new items that were obtained for them to go to school have meant a great deal to them. As a matter of fact, when asked if she would like to say a few words to her sponsor, Sangji said, "Thank you for the nice clothes and shoes."
Lobsang is a bright boy who studies hard in school, with very good results. He is an excellent student in all of his classes. He is enjoying school very much, not just for his studies, but because he gets to play sports as well. All of the children take turns cleaning the classroom and dormitories and Lobsang is expected to participate in this activity as well. While it is not his favorite activity, all of the children take pride in being able to care for their school and he is no exception. Lobsang has also expressed his gratitude for the new clothes and shoes. You can see how much he is enjoying them by the care he takes of these items. He takes pride in being neat and clean.
Teen Educational Preparation Program
January 2006- Just a couple months ago, Hope's Heart sponsored a teen orphan's educational preparation program for life outside the orphanage. We are honored to now add a second yearly sponsorship for another teen. This enrichment program gives older girls a chance to gain not only practical, individually tailored skills (music, computer, language or vocational training), but also gain self-confidence and belief in themselves for a hopeful future. Thank you for your contributions that help provide practical skills as well as confidence building for orphans preparing to leave the orphanage.
2005 Educational & Developmental Projects
Pre-School Sponsorship
November 2005- We have heard that Wei (see August 2005 below) has been adopted! We wish she and her new family all God's best. Wei's pre-school sponsorship has been transfered to another little girl, Mei. Mei is receiving dedicated, individualized attention as she attends a pre-school program designed for her developmental and educational needs. Access to age-appropriate toys helps her discover the world around her through hands-on activities. Because of physical disabilities primary consideration is given to developing her muscles and coordination skills. Mei is described as a happy child who laughs loudly.
April 2006 UPDATE- The attention Mei is receiving is helping her stand better and walk while holding her hand. She like to be read to and has a beautiful laugh. Immediate goals are to keep training her limbs to help her walk independently, and to develop her language by communicating with her more often.
July 2006 UPDATE- Mei is described as 'very smart'. She expresses herself through facial changes, sounds, and clapping her hands. Continued attention is given to both her physical and language development.
Customized Learning Experience
October 2005 - Equipping an older orphan with tools and opportunities to prepare for life outside the orphanages is a tremendous gift. Hope's Heart's most recent educational grant is providing just such a gift. One young lady (teen) was awarded a one year customized learning experience which is designed to offer training for employment once she leaves the orphanage. This individualized program provides academic and vocational education. Thank you for helping her dream be realized and her future made bright.
Pre-School Scholarship for Wei
August 2005- As a result of a Hope's Heart sponsorship, Wei is able to participate in a pre-school program providing her both indoor and outdoor activities. Her time in the program offers resources for development and age-appropriate learning. Through this experience she is given the opportunity to explore the world around her.
November 2005 UPDATE- We were blessed to receive a report that Wei has been adopted, and wish Wei and her new family a lifetime of love together. Sponsorship for the pre-school program will provide the same resources for another little girl, Mei. (see November 2005 above).
Two Scholarships to Attend School
June 2005 - Hope's Heart has just released funds for school tuitions for 2 orphans in a remote area of western China. Each of these sponsorships will allow an orphan, who would not otherwise receive an education, to attend school for a full year. Check back soon for reports on these children.
August 2005 UPDATE- Hope's Heart is pleased to introduce Sangji (9 years old) and Lobsang (10 years old). Because of your generosity these two children have been given the gift of hope for the future by providing them with an education.
Read more updates on Sangji and Lobsang on the 2006 Developmental & Educational page.
