2006 Caregiving Projects
Caregiver Training
December 2006- Helping the ayis (nannies) provide optimal care of the orphans contributes to an environment which fosters the best health and development of the babies/children as well as confidence in the ayis. A grant has just been released to provide additional training to orphanage workers and foster care providers. Topics of instruction include early childhood development, nutrition, and first aid. We are confident this knowledge will enrich the lives of the babies/children in their care.
Another Caregiver Sponsorship
July 2006- Continuing to believe in the enormous value of extra arms of love to embrace babies/children, Hope's Heart has sponsored another one year caregiver grant. Her dedication to the children will bring evidence of their value and bring tangible evidence that they are loved. They will receive physical, emotional and social stimulation and encouragement.
One Year Nanny Sponsorship
April 2006- What baby would not benefit from more attention, physical touch, stimulation, individual care, and words of kindness? We are grateful to supply a one year grant which will provide for an additional nanny to help care for orphaned babies. She will give individual attention each day to the 3-5 babies in her care. Through this infant nurture program the babies will grow and develop with opportunities exceeding what they would otherwise have.
Presently our nanny is working with three children. She is helping the first one (NP) on physical development, giving attention to her hands, arms and legs. The second child (CL) is receiving focus on leg training and climbing as well as communication skills. Nanny is helping her third child (CC) develop a parent-child relationship, focusing on communication and singing. Attention is given to imitation in play and speech. We are truly thankful for the opportunity these little girls have for proper development and growth through their relationship with their new nanny.

July UPDATE- All three babies are developing wonderfully under the special care and attention of their nanny. CL can stand by herself to play and doesn't like when another child takes her toy. Her nanny is holding her hands to teach walking. CC 'talks' on and on (babbles), likes to give hugs, and enjoys examining her toys. NP loves to laugh and make sounds of single syllables. She is very attached to her nanny. Focus this next quarter will be to verbal communication and physical stimulation and development.
August UPDATE- Good reports continue to come in. Our nanny continues individual work with CL. CL has mastered walking, can now go outside to play ,and has become assertive with other children, snatching their toy or food. Nanny will train her in proper social manners as well as work on language development. Nanny is now working with two new children. YN likes to play outdoors, climbs freely, and often kisses the faces and heads of the other children. LH is making wonderful progress. Nanny is helping train and develop his legs since casting has been recently removed. She is also working with him on improving language ability and social competence.
Hugging Granny and Two Care Givers
January 2006- We began the 2006 year with continued funding of the hugging granny and the two caregivers, all of whom contribute greatly to the increased love and care of China's orphans. (See details and pictures below). As opportunities arise, we anticipate sponsoring other caregivers to help enrich the lives of the babies and children in their care.
2005 Caregiving Projects
Hugging Granny
October 2005 - Hope's Heart has begun supporting a 'hugging granny' who gives of her time and talents to serve the children in an orphanage in southeast China. As a doctor, this woman is offering her medical skills to assist with the needs of the children and to be a caregiver to those that are sick or have special needs.

Two New Ayis (Nannies)
February 2005- Every child has a need to be held, hugged, and touched both as a way of knowing they are loved and as a means of proper physical development. Unfortunately, due to the high ratio of children to caregivers in some orphanages, these precious children are limited in the regular physical contact that they need and want. Those children with physical challenges may require even a greater degree of care. Hope's Heart is providing extra sets of helping hands and arms of love by supporting two aunties in southeast China who work alongside the orphanage staff. These ayis (aunties) were specially chosen by the orphanage doctor and give of themselves to provide the best possible care to the babies and children. They are making a difference.
June 2005 Update- Hope's Heart is dedicated to funding programs that assist in increasing the caregiver to child ratio in Chinese orphanages. Hope's Heart has been providing support for two aunties at an orphanage in southeast China since February. Below are some updated pictures of the aunties faithfully serving the precious children in this orphanage.
